John E. Holmes collection, 1908-1915.

The John E. Holmes Collection consists of four photographs and a typed extract from an order issued at Fort Gibbon, Alaska, in 1915. Three of the photographs show Holmes mushing dogs at Iditarod, Seward, and Candle, Alaska. The fourth photograph, a real-photo postcard, shows a Siberian Eskimo woman and child. The order concerns delivering dogs to telegraph stations between Fort Gibbon and Chena, Alaska.
